As we get closer to the Christmas break, we want to make sure our school community is up to date with the changes that are coming due to COVID-19 restrictions. As you know, all students will be learning from home during the week of January 4-8, 2021. Our high school and junior high students will carry on as they have been for the last couple of weeks, and no changes will be seen there.
For our 1-6 classes this will be new and different from our current norm. Teachers will meet with their classes Monday through Thursday, twice daily, for approximately 30 minute periods, to deliver new content or guide students through lessons. Outside of those designated times each teacher will coordinate a small group or individualized instructional times. Friday will be a day that teachers use to coordinate with students who need additional help or time for completion of material. Content will be available either online, or delivered in a package that would go home before the break. Your teacher will communicate the delivery method prior to that time.
Kindergarten and Preschool families will be contacted by your teachers directly to coordinate what learning opportunities and check-ins will look like for the two days that your students will be out of the school.
Provided below are the times that are designated for each grade. When determining these times, teachers tried to account for siblings, and homes that could have multiple devices being used. The schedule will go as follows:
8:30-9:00 - Grade 1 9:00-9:30 - Grade 2 9:30-10:00 - Grade 3 10:00 - 10:30 - Grade 4 10:30 - 11:00 - Grade 5 11:00 - 11:30 - Grade 6 11:30 - 12:00 - Kindergarten 12:00 - 12:30 - Grade 1 12:30 - 1:00 - Grade 2 1:00 - 1:30 - Grade 3 1:30 - 2:00 - Grade 5 2:00 - 2:30 - Grade 6 2:30 - 3:00 - Grade 4
During these time blocks, students will be expected to check in, and attendance will be kept. Please have your students available to meet with teachers, as we want education to continue during this week. If you need a device, please reach out to your teacher. We will send home computers before the Christmas break.
Stay tuned for further communication, and please reach out to your teachers. We are happy to hear your feedback, and will work with you to make it through this week, and whatever may lie ahead. Thank you in advance for everything you do to help us. We can't do it without you.
