Southern Alberta 2022 Brain Bee

The Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the University of Calgary is committed to fostering excellence in interdisciplinary research and education in neurological and mental health research. We are excited to extend an invitation to all Calgary and Southern Alberta Students, grades 9 to 12, to participate in the institute’s 14th Annual Calgary Brain Bee, which will occur on Saturday, April 30th 2022. This will be a virtual event and is organized by volunteers from the Neuroscience program and faculty at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. We are still in the process of determining the exact schedule, but students can register here with more information to follow.

The Brain Bee is an international competition founded by the Society for Neuroscience which proceeds in a similar style as a traditional "spelling bee". Students are asked questions pertaining to the brain and nervous system. These questions and their answers are sourced from “Neuroscience: Science of the Brain” and “Brain Facts”. PDF versions of these books along with more information can be found at brainbee.ca and will be sent after registering. These competitions occur across Canada and the entire world. The winner of the Calgary Brain Bee will represent Southern Alberta at the Canadian National Competition and will win a scholarship to the University of Calgary Neuroscience program. An additional $300 in prizes will also be handed out to outstanding students.
